Amber Medland is a novelist and non-fiction writer. Her debut novel Wild Pets (Faber, 2021) was the Guardian’s Book of the Day and described as ‘smart and funny… an instant set text of the emerging canon of millennial fiction.’ Her second book, Attention Seeker: The Truth About ADHD (Dialogue Books), illustrated by Rubyetc, is out in paperback June 2026. She is working on her second novel.
Medland has an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University, where she also taught Undergraduate Writing. She is an alumna of the London Library Emerging Writers Programme, which she has also judged. She has received grants from the Arts Council and the Society of Authors. Her literary criticism has appeared in the London Review of Books, the New Yorker, the Paris Review & the TLS, amongst other publications.
